Admirations and Inspirations

Musings on writing workshops, dance classes, and Instagram.

Regarding Dew Writing Group

Regarding Dew is a creative research studio run by Maggy Navin-the most thoughtful curator of community. I first heard of Maggy’s “Creative Discovery Writing Gatherings” through a friend that shared a RD post in their story. I had felt stuck in my writing practice and intrigued by the idea of putting myself out there, where showing up for myself and my writing needed a little push and accountability. I nervously joined on zoom in April of 2020 and have been going ever since. It’s an intimate space that non writers and writers can come together on Saturday’s to receive prompts to then write for an allotted time. It’s not about being a “good writer,” rather it’s a beautiful container of getting your creative self active with zero judgment, just really wonderful space holding. Maggy is a gift.

Angela Trimbur’s Dance Classes

I’ve been following Angela on Instagram for quite some time. I think my enamor began when I came across a post of her and another admired artist of mine, Miranda July. They blurred the line between reality and performance and naturally I was thrilled to come across another dancer in the ether! Angela hosts dance classes in NYC that I’ve only admired through a screen and hope to attend in the future. It’s unapologetic, full of embodied fun, and if you’re in New York I highly suggest popping in! Angela is a force.

The massive.archive Instagram

To have a love hate relationship with social media feels like my personality these days (conversation for another time). The really wonderful parts about it feel really good though-like coming across a page that sparks interest and intrigue. I’ve been following @massive.archive for years and feel like I return/engage with the content often. The posts are thoughtfully researched and spending time with the feed brings me out of my world a bit, presenting images that feel inspiring and makes me feel a little more curious.
